Oakland will look to claim their fourth straight win on Monday night

After losing four of their past six series, the Oakland Athletics enjoyed a rain-shortened sweep in Detroit over the weekend as they took three in-a-row from the Tigers.

Oakland was on their way to completing a four-game sweep until rain pushed the game into being suspended with the Athletics leading 5-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning. After a ten-game span of failing to score more than five runs in a contest, the Athletics offense exploded in Detroit, scoring 28 runs over the first three games of the series.

The A’s will need to stay sharp on offense as they head to Cleveland to face an Indians pitching staff that is fifth in the league in ERA and ninth in all of baseball in strikeouts. Oakland took two of three from the Indians earlier this month, although it was a hard fought series. Each team scored only 10 runs throughout the series, as pitching played a massive role. Pitching looks to be the key this week, as the Athletics and Indians will begin their series at 3:10pm on Monday.
