Athletics’ Bob Melvin Named The 2018 Sporting News American League Manager of the Year

Even with the Oakland Athletics’ short run in the playoffs, the organization ends the 2018 season with a positive note. Manager Bob Melvin has been voted the 2018 Sporting News American League Manager of the Year.
In a year of insane twists and turns, @Athletics manager Bob Melvin steered Oakland to 97 wins and a wild-card spot.

The honor is especially touching because it is voted on by all nine AL managers. Melvin lead the A’s to a 97-65 record, an impressive 22 more wins than the previous year, and their first playoff appearance since the 2014 season.
