J.Ross: Best and Worst of the Weekend

Every Monday on the Lo-Down, Damien Barling and I discuss the things that we considered amazing or disappointing from the past weekend. Today I am sticking primarily positive because it was a good weekend. Shout out to all the wonderful Mom’s out there and I hope you all enjoyed a terrific Mother’s Day.
My first positive is Ferddy Peralta. Peralta is the ultimate feel good story. His family had never seen him pitch and they were in Colorado over the weekend expecting to see him pitch at triple A Colorado Springs on Saturday. He got called up to the big club and was now scheduled to pitch at Coors field for the Brewers on Sunday. With family, and friends watching Peralta took a no hitter into the 6th inning. He ended up striking out 13 which was a Brewers record for a debut and became just the 5th pitcher in history to strike out that many in his first outing.
I also am giving a “BEST” to Sacramento State softball. The Hornets are making a trip to the NCAA’s for the first time since 2008. They won the Big Sky title and will play UCLA on Friday in the first round of the double elimination Los Angeles Regional. Good luck Hornets and #StingersUp
Lastly, another shout out to a local team. William Jessup baseball. The Warriors baseball team made their first trip to the post-season and will host the Lincoln Regional in the NAIA tournament.
Check out our best and worst live on Monday’s at 1:00 on the Lo-Down on Sports 1140 KHTK.
