The NBA season is coming to an end and the next most exciting season is about to begin. Free agency has been quite the frenzy the last couple of summers. This July should be no different. The largest domino to fall will be King James. Will LeBron stay in Cleveland? Does he go to large markets like New York or Los Angeles? Houston? Boston? Philadelphia? Miami? What should he do?
Here is what I think is the absolute best choice for LeBron James. I was a firm believer in LeBron staying in Cleveland for the rest of his career. Now I have changed my mind. I think he should be in an all out pursuit of more titles and adding to his incredible legacy. There is a team that gives him that luxury and it’s not the Cavaliers. The Lakers aren’t quite there. Houston would be too stripped down to even acquire LeBron. The Philadelphia 76ers make the most sense. They have young stars and need LeBron to put them over the top. LeBron would get the credit in putting them over the top as opposed to the kickback that Kevin Durant got by joining a championship team already. With young stars that are already signed in Embiid, Simmons, Fultz, Saric, Covington and the potential to add even more along with LeBron this is a slam dunk. LeBron would also get the opportunity he would most definitely salivate over and that is a chance to beat the Warriors in the Finals. To me this is the choice and there really is no other option that is as good as Philadelphia. When he left Cleveland the first time he went to a Miami team that had Wade and Bosh. When he came back to Cleveland he joined a team that had Irving and Love. Now it makes sense to join a team that has young good pieces and should be good for a few years. If I were LeBron that is what I would do and take a few more cracks at the Warriors. Only time will tell what he actually will do.
