Oakland A’s second baseman Jed Lowrie was named as the injury replacement for Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres in the 2018 All-Star Game. Lowrie will make his first All-Star appearance, joining reliever Blake Treinen in representing the Athletics on the American League All-Star squad.

Lowrie is hitting .288/.358/.504 with an .863 OPS. His 16 home runs and 62 RBIs lead all AL second basemen. Lowrie, in his fifth season for Oakland, is 27-for-82 (.329) with seven home runs, seven doubles and 20 RBIs over his past 22 games. The A’s enter play on Tuesday with the majors’ best record over their last 20 games (16-4), and tied for the game’s second-best record over their last 30 (20-10) and has pulled it to within six games of the second wild card.
