The blows just keep on coming for the San Francisco Giants pitching staff.

After starting the regular season without ace Madison Bumgarner and fellow starter Jeff Samardzija, the Giants now will be without Johnny Cueto for at least six weeks.

Cueto was placed on the disabled list after experiencing elbow soreness. After seeing renowned surgeon Dr. James Andrews, Cueto was told he does not have any ligament damage and wont require surgery. He was diagnosed with an elbow sprain.

In year three of a six-year deal, the 32-year-old Cueto feared season-ending Tommy John surgery.

The San Francisco Giants are 19-15, currently third in the NL West. They are in Philadelphia to take on the Phillies tonight.
