Josh Cohen Named USL 2018 Goalkeeper of the Year Finalist

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (November 6, 2018) — The United Soccer League announced today the finalists for its 2018 USL Awards, with Sacramento Republic FC goalkeeper Josh Cohen nominated for Goalkeeper of the Year. The award winners will be announced during USL Awards Week between Monday, Nov. 12 and Wednesday, Nov. 14.
Cohen played every available USL minute with Sacramento (3,150), posting 12 clean sheets on the season and a 0.94 goals-against average. The 26-year-old goalkeeper recorded the second-most saves in the entire league, at 117 saves. He ended the season with a league-leading save percentage of 78.52 among goalkeepers with 40 saves or more. Cohen was named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 10 and earned several nominations for USL Save of the Week, winning three of those in Weeks six, 24 and 26.
The nomination is Cohen’s second honor this week after being named to the 2018 USL All-League Second Team on Monday, along with SRFC forward Cameron Iwasa.
