The San Antonio Spurs vs. Kawhi Leonard saga has been one for the record books. Leonard went from an MVP candidate and the future of the Spurs organization to out the door on non-speaking terms over a wild season and a half.
After being traded to the Toronto Raptors earlier this summer, Leonard has finally broken his over a year long silence, releasing a statement thanking San Antonio Spurs fans and the organization.

Leonard, who reportedly lost trust in the Spurs’ training staff, medical staff, coaching staff, and even some of his teammates, is not expected to stay in Toronto beyond next season. Only time will tell if he can be the same two-way superstar he was a couple seasons ago, and if the Spurs will regret ever letting “their guy” go.
