Madison Bumgarner Fractures Pitching Hand, Will Start Season on the DL

Earlier today in his final start of spring training against the Kansas City Royals, San Francisco Giants ace Madison Bumgarner has was hit in his left hand (pitching hand) by a line drive. He has officially been diagnosed with a fracture and will miss the start of the regular season.

Bumgarner will miss a minimum of four to six weeks. The 28-year-old ace missed much of last season after crashing his dirt bike.
The San Francisco Giants play the NL West champion Los Angeles Dodgers in three separate series over the first month of the regular season. They play divisional opponents 21 times between Opening Day on March 29th and the end of April.
Starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija will also start the regular season on the disabled list for San Francisco.
