The San Francisco Giants are one step closer to having their ace back on the mound. After breaking his left pinky finger in his final spring start, Madison Bumgarner has been medically cleared to start throwing again.

Bumgarner saw a specialist in Arizona on Tuesday and was cleared to begin throwing on flat ground through this weekend.
According to Giants Manager Bruce Bochy, Bumgarner is scheduled to throw a bullpen session next week and may be making rehab-starts in the minors soon thereafter.
Riddled with injuries, especially to their starting rotation, the Giants have managed to withstand a difficult April schedule and currently sit at a game over .500 (19-18), good for third in the NL West.
