It has been reported that Jon Gruden will be the new head coach for the Oakland Raiders. The team is set to hold a press conference on Tuesday, January 9 to introduce Gruden, as well as discuss what the Raiders have planned for their future.
According to NFL’s Steve Corkran Twitter:
“…Jon Gruden will be introduced as the
#Raiders head coach Tuesday, in a “splashy” news conference, I was informed by a team source.”
Per NBC Sports there have been rumors that once Gruden joins the Raiders, Los Angeles Rams quarterback coach Greg Olson is believed to follow him as the team’s offensive coordinator.
Olson isn’t the only one analyst have put together for the Raiders new coaching staff. There are also rumors that Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Paul Guenther will be joining, as well as Dallas Cowboys special teams coach Rich Bisaccia.
There is a lot of talk, but there have not been any confirmations from the team nor the couches, with the exception the report from Corkran stating that Olson will be taking the role as the Raiders head coach.
Olson was with the Raiders as the team’s offensive coordinator in 2013-14 and then went to the Jacksonville Jaguars to be their offensive coordinator in 2015-16. Come Tuesday, we will find out who may be coming along with Olson to the Raiders’ coaching staff.
UPDATE: CBS Sports reports that Gruden will earn around $100M followed by a 10-year deal with the Oakland Raiders.
