Raise your hand if you thought that Jon Gruden’s “Oakland” Raiders would be 1-5 after week six of the NFL season? Honestly, I am one of the few that can put my hand in the air. Gruden’s $100 million contract always smelled fishy, but after the bogus trade of Khalil Mack, and Gruden’s sorry attempt to put the blame on Mack and not himself, the Raiders are reaping what they sew. In fact, the Silver and Black are lucky to have their one win at home against the Cleveland Browns, who were robbed by an officiating mistake that, had it not happened, the Browns would have been able to run out the clock and win the game.

The Raiders traveled to London last week, meeting the Seattle Seahawks for an international bout in front of an English crowd that considers “football” a plagiarism of the world’s favorite pastime (soccer).  Unfortunately those fans were subjected to a 27-3 Seattle victory that wasn’t nearly as entertaining as the final score suggests. The Raiders managed a pathetic three points on just 185 total yards of offense. Thanks to a non-existent offensive line, that was considered one of the best in football just two seasons ago, quarterback Derek Carr finished with just 142 yards and was sacked six times. His completion percentage was in the mid-70’s, but that’s not all that impressive based off his completion chart.

Seattle, meanwhile, was lead by a three touchdown, 222 yard passing day by Russell Wilson, who has the ability to escape the pocket and create plays with his legs when the Seahawks’ poor offensive line collapses. The Raiders defense, the most consistent, part of the team this season, did manage one interception. But their offense couldn’t even begin to reward them for their efforts, or keep them off the field for longer than eight minutes.

The Raiders host Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts next Sunday following their bye week. While Gruden looks to get his team back under control, rumors have begun to circulate pegging the Raiders as sellers in the trade market. Their biggest potential name that is available; wide receiver Amari Cooper. The circus continues. Oakland’s season can be summed up perfectly in one video of Derek Carr’s sad, defeated face.
