McCaffrey is the older brother of Panthers rookie running back Christian McCaffrey.
He was signed as an undrafted free-agent by the Oakland Raiders in 2016. After being released by the team in August 2016, he signed with the Green Bay Packers but didn’t play a snap.
He was released and since bounced around to New Orleans and Jacksonville before landing with the Packers once again on their practice squad.
According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports, he will likely take the spot of Victor Bolden, who sustained an ankle injury during Sunday’s win over the Houston Texans.
McCaffrey caught his only NFL pass for four yards while with Jacksonville.
