The Oakland Athletics have made a move at first base coach as the franchise has officially named Al Pedrique to the position. Pedrique managed the New York Yankees’ Triple-A team last season.

Mark Feinsand of MLB.com tweeted the news Monday morning.

Pedrique began his coaching career with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2004. He managed the Triple-A team before being promoted to interim manager of the Diamondbacks when Bob Brenly was fired in July.

He since was hired by the Houston Astros as bench coach before being fully involved with the Yankees organization and their affiliates.

Pedrique has been the manager for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders for the past two seasons. In 2016, the club won the International League title and went on to capture the national Triple-A championship over El Paso of the Pacific Coast League.

To make room at the position, the incumbent 1st base coach Mike Aldrete will shift to the role of assistant hitting coach. The previous assistant hitting coach, Marcus Jensen, will fill the final vacancy on the staff by becoming the bullpen coach.

Oakland’s 2018 coaching staff now looks like this:

Manager: Bob Melvin
Bench: Ryan Christenson
1st base: Al Pedrique
3rd base: Matt Williams
Pitching: Scott Emerson
Bullpen: Marcus Jensen
Hitting: Darren Bush
Asst Hitting: Mike Aldrete
