Mayock will be in charge of player evaluations while head coach Jon Gruden will be in charge of making the final personnel decisions. Gruden said yesterday about Mayock: “He loves it. He’s a passionate, passionate personnel man. He’s done it for a long time. I know he’s had opportunities to get back into the NFL as a general manager and we’ll see what happens. We’ll see how the dust settles.”
Mayock has been with NFL Network since 2004 but this isn’t the first time the Raiders have been interested in him as the general manager. Schefter also tweeted that Mayock once was interviewed by Al Davis for the same position in the past.
The Raiders finished with a 4-12 record and will draft fourth in the upcoming NFL Draft.
