It has been an emotional couple for weeks for Oakland Athletics outfielder Stephen Piscotty, who lost his mother Gretchen earlier this month to ALS. After a brief bereavement leave from the team, Piscotty returned to the A’s lineup last night for their battle with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.
In his first at-bat he did this:

His bomb over the green monster is his third home run of the season, the 41st of his career, and easily the most meaningful. Following the game, Piscotty talked about the moment and what it meant to him with the Oakland A’s broadcast team.
