Stephen Piscotty’s Mother Has Passed Away

Stephen Piscotty’s mother has passed away from ALS at the age of 55.

USA Today reports that Gretchen Piscotty died on Sunday at her home in Pleasanton.

Her son, Stephen Piscotty, left the St. Louis Cardinals and was traded to the Oakland Athletics back in December to be closer to his mother.

Athleticss executive vice president Billy Beane said in a statement: “The Athletics organization extends its deepest condolences to the Piscotty family on the loss of Gretchen. She was a devoted wife and mother, whose legacy will live on through her husband, Mike, and their sons Stephen, Austin and Nick.”
