San Jose Sharks forward Joe Thornton has undergone arthroscopic surgery after he injured his right knee during the Sharks vs Winnipeg Jets game on Jan. 24.
There is currently no timetable for his return, but GM Doug Wilson said the injury will likely have Thornton on the sidelines for several weeks, per The Washington Post.
Wilson announced that Thornton had the operation Thursday to repair the MCL on his right knee.
He is currently playing on a one-year, $8 million contract.
