Everton’s Wayne Rooney has agreed “in principle” to join DC United for a reported transfer fee of £12 million ($16.2).

“This latest deal was drafted over the past seven weeks, during several visits to the States by [Rooney’s agent Paul] Stretford alongside D.C. United’s chief executive Jason Levien,” Sky Sports News reported

Rooney returned to his original club, Everton, last summer. Rooney is most famously known for his historic spell at Manchester United where he became the fabled club’s all-time leading goal scorer and was the clubs captain for most of his time.
