UC Davis To Host Football Fan Fest and Kickoff Party

DAVIS, Calif. – With official competition involving UC Davis’ fall teams taking place throughout the upcoming weeks, and football’s 2019 season opener at Cal rapidly approaching, Intercollegiate Athletics will celebrate the start of a new season by hosting two annual fan-favorite events: Football Fan Fest and the Kickoff Party at Miner’s Leap Winery.
 
The official reveal of UC Davis Health Stadium’s new name will mark the start of this year’s Football Fan Fest, which will take place on Friday, Aug. 16, at 6 p.m. In addition to hearing from Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Dan Hawkins and student-athletes, fans can collect autographs and participate in various drills with players, purchase pizza, ice cream and beer throughout this free event.

Who: UC Davis Health and UC Davis Football, the defending Big Sky Conference champions.

What: Dedication of UC Davis Health Stadium and the football program’s annual Fan Fest.

When: Friday, Aug 16 – 6;30 p.m.

Where: Dedication ceremony will take place outsideUC Davis Health Stadium’s main entrance, next to the box office, before Fan Fest begins shortly thereafter inside the facility.

NOTES

  • Media parking is available in Lot 56, behind UC Davis Health Stadium’s scoreboard (bottom left-hand corner of the attached parking map, within the Health Sciences District.
  • Friday’s ceremony marks the start of a new 20-year naming rights agreement, as part of an expanded partnership between UC Davis Athletics and UC Davis Health — the new exclusive health category advertiser and provider of healthcare services once UC Davis’ state-of-the-art Student-Athlete Performance Center opens to the public.
  • Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Dan Hawkins will talk to fans and season ticket holders who attend Football Fan Fest; younger Aggie fans can collect autographs from members of this year’s team, participate in various football drills and have fun in a Kids Zone filled with inflatables and games.
  • This event also provides fans with an opportunity to pick up their season tickets and Big Sky replica championship rings; season tickets and mini plans are available for purchase that evening.

Miner’s Leap Winery will host this year’s Kickoff Party on Saturday, Aug. 24 — one week before football opens the 2019 season at Cal (Aug. 31).
 
In addition to Hawkins, head women’s soccer coach Tracy Hamm, Child and Meisel Families Director of Men’s Water Polo Dan Leyson, head field hockey coach Britt Broady and head men’s soccer coach Dwayne Shaffer will talk about their upcoming seasons alongside Aggie fans who register to attend this event.
