The Yankees come into town with the best record in all of baseball at 83-43 on the season

Fresh off of a series win over the Houston Astros, the Oakland Athletics return to action tonight to kick off a three-game set with the New York Yankees.

Oakland took three out of four games from the first-place Astros, cutting their division lead to 7.5 games. In the Wild Card race, the A’s trail the Tampa Bay Rays by 1.5 games for the second Wild Card spot. Matt Chapman enjoyed Houston pitching, batting .437 with two home runs and three doubles over the four-game series. Marcus Semien homered twice during the series as well, upping his season total to 21, just six back from his career-high of 27 that he hit during the 2016 season.

Semien is hitting .282 with seven home runs over his last 27 games.

The New York Yankees come into town with the MLB’s best record at 83-43 on the season. All-Star infielder DJ LeMahieu has had an incredible year for the Yankees, leading the league in batting average (.339) and accomplishing career-highs in home runs (21) and RBI (86). Linden product Aaron Judge has struggled as of late, hitting .191 with one home run and five RBI since July 24th.

New York has not won a series in Oakland since May of 2016.
