A couple of months ago, following his being hired as the new head coach of the Sacramento Kings, Luke Walton was accused of sexual assault by former NBA reporter Kelli Tennant. Following the accusations, the Kings and NBA announced a joint investigation into the allegations against Walton.
Friday, that investigation came to an official close.
According to the official release, the investigation included interviews from over 20 individuals, including Walton himself. Tennant decline to participate.
Due to insufficient evidence to support the allegations, and Tennant’s refused involvement, the investigation was closed.
Soon after the announcement, the Sacramento Kings released the following statement:
“Luke Walton is our head coach and we support him and his team as they continue to prepare for the upcoming season.”
Walton also released his own statement:
“I am 100% focused on coaching the Sacramento Kings, and energized to work with this incredible group of players and coaches as we start the preseason. I will have no further comment.”
In exactly two months, the Kings will open up their 2019-2020 regular season in Phoenix against the Suns.
