The Sacramento Kings have one of the best young shooters in the NBA on their roster, approaching the end of his rookie contract. Although general manager Vlade Divac and the Kings front office have multiple options when it comes to retaining Buddy Hield, getting a deal signed and submitted before the start of the season would be best for both parties.

If the Kings and Hield do not come to an agreement by the start of the season, the 26-year-old shooting guard would become a restricted free agent at its end.

Yahoo Sports’ Chris B. Haynes wrote in a recent article that the Kings currently have an offer on the table for Hield, worth $90M over four years. Buddy and his agent, Brandon Rosenthal, are reportedly pushing for $110M.

Both sides have a week to come to an agreement before Sacramento’s season opener against the Phoenix Suns. It is safe to assume there will be a compromise close to the $100M mark when it’s all said and done.

Hield averaged nearly 21 points per game last season while shooting 42% from three-point range. Now a full-time starter, with a new head coach in Luke Walton, Buddy’s volume of three pointers attempted is only expected to go up.

One thing’s for sure, the Sacramento Kings front office is continuing to work today for a brighter tomorrow. Locking up the sharpshooter long term would bring even more excitement to an already re-energized Sacramento fan base.
