The Buddy Hield contract negotiation saga appears to be coming to an end. Monday, on the day of the deadline for the Kings to sign Hield to an extension, The Athletic’s Sam Amick has reported that a deal has been agreed upon.
Four years, $86 million is less than the original reported $90M offer that the Kings had on the table last week. However, that offer, which Hield appeared to be offended by, didn’t include the $20 million of incentives as this deal.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, some of the incentives are so achievable for Hield, the base salary is projected to raise to $94 million quickly.
Hield is one of the NBA’s top shooters, converting on over 42% of threes taken in each of the last two seasons. Sacramento opens up their 2019-20 regular season on Wednesday in Phoenix against the Suns.
