Coming off of the bench for the first time this season, Buddy Hield’s stellar play leads Sacramento to victory in the Windy City

Losing six games in a row will make any coach want to shake things up, and that’s exactly what Luke Walton did.

Sacramento had a new look in Chicago, and it payed off as the Sacramento Kings snapped a six-game losing streak by beating the Chicago Bulls 98-81 at United Center.

After taking a 10-point lead into the half, Sacramento let Chicago get back into the game after a 15-2 Bulls run to start the third-quarter. The Kings would respond, taking a six-point lead into the final period before going on a 20-8 run to put the game away.

Bogdan Bogdanovic was tapped to start at shooting guard on Monday night, sending Buddy Hield to the bench for the first time this season. How would Hield respond to coming off the bench for the first time since the 2017-18 season?

With arguably his most efficient showing of the season, of course.

Hield would lead all Kings in scoring with 21 points on seven-of-12 from the field while grabbing eight rebounds over only 23 minutes. Buddy was efficient from the three-point line as well, drilling five-of-nine of his attempts from downtown.

Sacramento could strongly benefit from a bench scoring presence like Hield, especially with Bogdanovic continuing to play well with the starting unit.

De’Aaron Fox, who battled foul trouble into the second half, still managed to have a strong showing on Monday night. The third-year guard finished with 16 points, six rebounds, seven assists and three steals in the winning effort.

Nemanja Bjelica finished with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Harrison Barnes added 19 points in a much needed win for the Kings (16-29).

Rookie guard Kyle Guy got his first NBA points on Monday night, drilling a mid-range jumper on an assist from Harry Giles III during the fourth quarter.

Coming Up

Sacramento will look to keep things rolling on Monday night when they head to Target Center to face the Minnesota Timberwolves.
