21 years ago today, Stojakovic had a big game off of the bench to help lead Sacramento past the Utah Jazz

All athletic events will be on pause for the foreseeable future, which is a tough pill to swallow for sports fans around the world.

While this may be a rough time for Sacramento Kings fans, we can look back on some good times while we wait for basketball to make it’s return.

On This Date: March 30, 1999

In a season where both teams were on a crash-course towards meeting in the 1999 NBA Playoffs, the Sacramento Kings outlasted the Utah Jazz in a nail biter that went into overtime back on March 30, 1999.

Then 21 year-old rookie Peja Stojakovic finished with 26 points off of the bench, hitting five-of-eight three-point attempts to help lead the Kings to a 104-101 win.

Kings guard Vernon Maxwell finished with a game-high 33 points, while Vlade Divac grabbed 13 rebounds to go along with six assists and eight points.

Future Hall of Fame talents John Stockton and Karl Malone combined for 34 points and 18 assists in the loss.

Just a few weeks later, the Kings and Jazz would meet in a hard-fought first round of the NBA Playoffs–a series that Utah would win in a decisive Game 5.

The Kings and Jazz would see each other often in the coming years, with Sacramento eliminating Utah in 2002 and 2003.
