The Athletics routed the Chicago White Sox on the 50th Anniversary of their first game in Oakland

All athletic events will be on pause for the foreseeable future, which is a tough pill to swallow for sports fans around the world.

While this may be a rough time for Oakland Athletics fans, we can look back on some good times while we wait for baseball to make its return.

April 17, 2018: Athletics 10, White Sox 2

On the 50th Anniversary of the first game in Oakland, the Athletics celebrated in the best way possible in routing the Chicago White Sox by a final score of 10-2.

Trevor Cahill delivered seven dominant innings, striking out eight batters and allowing no runs.

Jed Lowrie hit his fifth home run of the season, while Mark Canha went three-for-four with three RBI. Jonathan Lucroy drove three runs in, collecting three hits of his own in Oakland’s blow out win.

The Oakland Athletics moved from Kansas City to the Bay Area prior to the 1968 season.

Since moving to Oakland, the A’s hold a winning percentage of .520 over 8,293 games–better than their percentages of .404 in Kansas City and .478 in Philadelphia, respectively.
