Two years ago today, Sean Manaea delivered a historic performance

All athletic events will be on pause for the foreseeable future, which is a tough pill to swallow for sports fans around the world.

While this may be a rough time for Oakland Athletics fans, we can look back on some good times while we wait for baseball to make its return.

April 21, 2018: Athletics 3, Red Sox 0

When the Boston Red Sox came into Oakland in April of 2018, they were without a doubt the hottest team in baseball.

After winning 17 of their first 19 games, Boston was looking to push their winning streak to nine on April 21, 2018 when they faced Sean Manaea and the Oakland Athletics.

Manaea would ice the red-hot Boston lineup, delivering a dominant no-hitter to lead the A’s to a 3-0 victory.

The 26 year-old lefty struck out a career-high 10 batters while only walking two over 108 pitches. Manaea’s no-hitter was 297th in baseball history and the first by an Oakland pitcher since Dallas Braden’s perfect game in 2010.

Marcus Semien went two-for-three with a solo home run off of Chris Sale, his second of the season. Jed Lowrie and Stephen Piscotty each drove in a run to support Manaea’s historic night.

Hear the sounds of Manea’s no-hitter tomorrow night (Wednesday, April 22) right here on Sports 1140 KHTK with the replay beginning at 5:00pm.
