In an exclusive sit-down interview, Carmichael Dave got the chance to talk baseball and more with All-Star first baseman Will Clark

This morning on The Drive, Carmichael Dave shared part-two of his exclusive sit-down interview with six-time All-Star Will Clark.

Clark, 56, played 15 season in the MLB, primarily for the San Francisco Giants where he played from 1986-1993. Over his time in the majors, Clark racked up 2,176 hits, 284 home runs, a lifetime batting average of .303 and six Gold Glove Awards for his outstanding defensive work at first base.

The 1989 NLCS MVP was generous enough to sit down with Dave to discuss his career, tell stories of his playing days and much more. Clark shared some insight on when he knew it was time to hang up his cleats and walk away from the game of baseball.

“My wife and I talked about it, it seemed to be about that time. The traveling was getting a little tougher, being away from home and not seeing him (his son) everyday was getting tough, I had kind of made up my mind, but I also still was not going to tell anybody. I was going to go out and do my job.”

Clark will have his number 22 jersey retired by the Giants this season. On the incredible honor, Clark explained what the gesture means to him.

“It is so special, it’s unbelievable. I tell people this is my home, and I mean that sincerely. Myself personally, I am so proud of, not only myself, but my teammates. The guys I see every day to work with, who stood behind me and helped me out, helped me grow as a player. I couldn’t have done what I did without their support. It’s going to be an extremely proud moment, without a doubt. For the Giants to step up and retire my jersey like that, it is probably the biggest honor that I have had in my life.”
