Two years ago today, Matt Chapman delivered a go-ahead solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead the Athletics to victory

All athletic events will be on pause for the foreseeable future, which is a tough pill to swallow for sports fans around the world.

While this may be a rough time for Oakland Athletics fans, we can look back on some good times while we wait for baseball to make its return.

June 10, 2018: A’s 3, Royals 2

Athletics starter Sean Manaea tossed 7.1 innings of two-run ball, Matt Chapman saved the day with a go-ahead solo home run in the bottom of the eighth and the Oakland Athletics beat the Kansas City Royals by a final of 3-2 at the Coliseum.

Manaea struck out six batters and walked none in an impressive start by the left-hander.

After Kansas City scored a run on a wild-pitch, Royals catcher Salvador Perez delivered the only blemish to Manaea’s statline–a game-tying home run in the third-inning to tie the game at 2-2.

Chapman led-off the bottom of the eighth-inning with a line-drive missile over the left-field scoreboard to give the Athletics a 3-2 lead.

All-Star closer Blake Trienen put the finishing touches on the Royals in the ninth, giving the A’s their 34th win on the season. Oakland would go on to win 97 games in 2018, the most wins in a season for the franchise since 2002 when they finished 103-59.
