Seven years ago today, Brandon Moss hit two home runs to lead the Athletics past New York at the Coliseum

All athletic events will be on pause for the foreseeable future, which is a tough pill to swallow for sports fans around the world.

While this may be a rough time for Oakland Athletics fans, we can look back on some good times while we wait for baseball to make its return.

June 12, 2013: A’s 5, Yankees 2

Brandon Moss had a big day for the Athletics, hitting two home runs and driving in three runs to lead Oakland past Robinson Cano and the New York Yankees.

Athletics starter Dan Straily picked up the win, pitching 6.2 innings and giving up only two runs on three hits.

Moss got the A’s on the board first, drilling a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning off of Yankees right-hander Phil Hughes. Moss would hit another home run in the eighth inning, a solo-shot to provide the Oakland bullpen an insurance run. After John Jaso singled in another run, the A’s took a 5-2 lead into the ninth inning.

All-Star closer Grant Balfour would end the game in the ninth to pick up his 17th save of the season. Oakland would go on to sweep the series against the Yankees, winning all three games at the Coliseum.
