Baseball is nearing a return.

With Spring Training 2.0 around the corner, let’s look back on some good times while we wait for the Oakland A’s to take the field once again.

June 26, 2013: A’s 5, Reds 0

Seven years ago today, Athletics started A.J. Griffin pitched the best game of his career, tossing a complete-game shutout to lead Oakland over the Cincinnati Reds by a final of 5-0 at the Coliseum.

Griffin pitched the first complete-game of his career, striking out seven batters and only allowing two hits.

The right-hander only walked two batters and tossed 108 pitches in his sixth win of the season. 2013 would be a breakout year for Griffin, who would go on to finish the season with a 14-10 record and 3.83 ERA.

A’s third baseman Josh Donaldson provided the game-defining blow for Oakland, putting the game away for good with a monster three-run home run in the fourth inning to give the A’s a 5-0 lead.

Brandon Moss and Nate Frieman also picked up an RBI a piece in the win for the Athletics.
