I’m so excited for the return of NBA Basketball and the Sacramento Kings

Since early March, everyone in the world can say that their “normal” was disrupted.
Locked down, sheltered in place, working from home, repeatedly washing hands, staying at a safe distance from others, wearing masks and most days felt like a scene from the movie Groundhog Day. Day after day, rinse and repeat. Days and months became forgettable; the year though will never be forgotten. 2020 will be a memorable year for many things.
One of the notable memories is the fact that COVID-19 also shut down the world of sports.
The Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans were all set to be the final game before the NBA decided to completely stop the season. The surreal night at Golden 1 was just the beginning of what has become a truly unbelievable time in our history. Now after a few months, a decisive plan, and a desire to finish the season, the NBA is back.
The Sacramento Kings are one of 22 teams taking part in the NBA’s restart from the Orlando bubble.
The return of the Kings and the NBA gives everyone a much needed jolt of good news. We have all dealt with enough during these trying times. Sports not only provides great entertainment but also the much needed escape from all the doom and gloom that is right in front of us. For their part, the Kings will try and fight their way to the 8th or 9th seed to see if they can break the NBA’s longest playoff drought.
With the exception of Marvin Bagley III, the team is healthy and Luke Walton’s deep roster gives them a chance to do some damage in Orlando.
The 8-game sprint begins Friday against the San Antonio Spurs.
The Kings have a chance. At this point, that is the whole point. There were times during the pandemic that we longed for sports to return and now it is here. Not sure how long it will last or if the bubble will burst but, I am going to appreciate sports even more than I normally do.
Go Kings!
