Matt Olson drilled his sixth home run of the season in the win

While the Oakland Athletics might have seen their nine-game winning streak snapped this week, they got themselves back on track on Wednesday afternoon in Los Angeles.

Chris Bassitt picked up his second win of the season, Matt Olson homered and the A’s defeated the Angels 8-4 for their league-best 13th win.

Bassitt gave up four runs over 5.2 innings while striking out four batters. The right-hander is 11-5 with a 3.53 ERA and 156 strikeouts over his last 31 appearances.

Ramón Laureano put on a defensive clinic on Wednesday, robbing Angels outfielder Brian Goodwin of a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Laureano timed his jump perfectly, reaching over the fence to pluck a game-tying long-ball from the other side of the fence.

The 26 year-old center-fielder was handed a five-game suspension for his role in this week’s brawl with the Houston Astros. Laureano will be appealing his suspension, per multiple reports.

Astros bench coach Alex Cintron, who was seen taunting Laureano, was suspended 20 games for his role in the incident.

Matt Olson hit his sixth home run of the season, a first-inning solo-shot off of Angels starter Griffin Canning. Robbie Grossman would follow Olson’s lead in the second-inning, hitting his third homer of the year–a two-run shot–off of Canning.

Matt Chapman finished the day with two doubles and an RBI, while Laureano had two RBI of his own in the win.

Stephen Piscotty hit his fourth home run of the year in the fourth-inning, adding to an impressive day at the plate for the A’s.

The Oakland bullpen would enter in the sixth-inning, delivering 3.1 shutout innings to close the door on Mike Trout and the Angels.

Oakland will get the day off on Thursday before heading across the bay to face the San Francisco Giants at ORACLE Park.
