Sacramento Kings insider James Ham of NBC Sports joined The Carmichael Dave Show this week to discuss the team’s search for a new general manager

This week on The Carmichael Dave Show with JayMarzz, Sacramento Kings insider James Ham joined the show to talk about the team’s upcoming offseason.

Ham, who reports for NBC Sports California, emphasized the importance of finding a new general manager to replace former GM Vlade Divac.

Divac stepped down from his position on August 14th after five tumultuous years with the franchise.

Ham shared that the team is expected to conduct a nationwide search for their next general manager. Respected front office advisor and NBA Hall of Fame inductee Joe Dumars has been rumored to be leading the search for a new general manager.

On if the Kings will refer to Dumars for the upcoming NBA Draft and free-agency decisions, Ham stated that Sacramento will need to think long and hard before making any moves.

Buddy Hield has been reportedly unhappy in his role as sixth-man, while Bogdan Bogdanovic is expected to generate plenty of interest this offseason as a restricted free-agent.

“Just the whole process, it has started out strange and I hope that it gets figured out because I’m not sure how you can walk into a draft and free-agency, and everything else with Joe Dumars running the show, and then he hands it over to someone else,” Ham said. “I don’t think in the history of the NBA I have ever seen somebody have a job for three months and has the decision of whether or not to trade Buddy Hield, the decision on the 12th pick, the decision on matching Bogdan Bogdanovic–and then walks away.”

“Those are decisions that could impact the franchise for a decade.”

Dave went on to relay some information from his own sources regarding to the Kings GM search, with Ham also elaborating on what he has been hearing about Sacramento’s plans for the offseason.
