Per Carmichael Dave’s sources, Sacramento is eyeing Sachin Gupta as their new Head of Basketball Operations with Monte McNair becoming the new General Manager
The Sacramento Kings have their eyes set on a desired order of operations for their front office, according to our very own Carmichael Dave.
Per Dave’s sources, there is strong movement towards a scenario that would see rumored top-choice Sachin Gupta become the Head of Basketball Operations with fellow candidate Monte McNair moving into the role of General Manager.
According to Dave’s sources, owner Vivek Ranadive, his son Aneel and current interim general manager Joe Dumars are interviewing candidates for the vacancies.
Interviews will continue today in person, with the search appearing to be moving towards a solution that would make several Kings fans rejoice.
Gupta, who has worked for the Philadelphia 76ers, Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves, is largely considered as the favorite for the position–hence Carmichael Dave’s twitter name in the above mentioned tweet.
During his time in the league, Gupta has been involved with the construction of several playoff rosters, rebuilds and blockbuster trades.
Monte McNair, who is the current assistant general manager of the Houston Rockets, has been working in the Houston front office since 2007. McNair has been involved in most transactions that have taken place since the 2015-16 season, helping craft a Rockets team that has made the playoffs for eight consecutive seasons.
Both candidates have participated in phone interviews and have now advanced to in person conversations that will take place in Sacramento.
No agreements have been reached or are imminent, but there is mutual interest on both sides, per sources.
This is a developing story that will be updated as details are released.
