The Sacramento Kings will have a familiar face on the bench this season after hiring assistant coach Rex Kalamian to the coaching staff for the 2020-21 season.

Shortly after Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN broke the news on the hire, the team released a statement on the hiring of Kalamian:

The Sacramento Kings announced today that Rex Kalamian has been named Assistant Coach. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“I’m excited to add Rex’s experience and perspective to the team,” said Kings Head Coach Luke Walton. “His nearly 30 years in the league will benefit our group and I look forward to working with him.”

Press Release from the Sacramento Kings communications team

Kalamian will return to Sacramento for his second stint after coaching under Reggie Theus from 2007-2009.

In recent years, Kalamian has coached for the Los Angeles Clippers (twice) under Doc Rivers, Toronto Raptors on Dwane Casey’s staff, Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves.
