The Sacramento Kings have started their makeover by trading their shooting guard to Milwaukee in a sign-and-trade move

Sacramento Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic has been traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in a sign-and-trade deal, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

It has been long rumored that the Milwaukee Bucks were eyeing Bogdanovic, with rumors surfacing as early as October regarding the team’s interest in the Kings guard.

Bogdanovic, who was entering restricted free-agency, has reportedly inked a contract and agreed to a trade that will send him to the Eastern Conference powerhouse. It’s the second noteworthy move by the Bucks on Monday, as the team also acquired New Orleans Pelicans All-Star guard Jrue Holiday earlier in the evening.

Sacramento has also sent guard/forward Justin James to Milwaukee in the deal.

In return for Bogdanovic and James, Sacramento has acquired guard Donte DiVencenzo, forward D.J. Wilson (attended Capital Christian High School in Sacramento) and forward Ersan İlyasova.

DiVencenzo is the headliner in this trade for the Kings, as the 23-year-old is a “three-and-D” type guard that can play next to De’Aaron Fox and form a solid defensive backcourt.

The Villanova product averaged 9.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 45-percent from the field over 66 games with the Bucks last season.

Wilson, who played in a limited role with Milwaukee last season, averaged 3.6 points and 2.5 rebounds per game over 37 contests.

İlyasova, a 12-year veteran, was a solid role-player for the Bucks in 2019-20.

The 33-year-old averaged 6.6 points and 4.8 rebounds over 66 games. İlyasova can shoot the basketball, holding a 46-percent average from the field and a 36-percent average from beyond the three-point line.

İlyasova’s $7 million deal for 2020-21 isn’t guaranteed, as new Kings general manager Monte McNair will need to make a decision on the forward’s status on the roster by Friday.

It’s a sad day for Kings fans, who will have to say goodbye the fan favorite in Bogdanovic.

The 28-year-old had his best season in 2019-20, averaging 15.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists with Sacramento last season. Bogdanovic will head to a Bucks team that will undoubtedly utilize his court-vision and long-range shooting, pairing him with two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, All-Star forward Khris Middleton and the recently acquired Holiday.

With the NBA Draft just one day away and free-agency to follow on Friday, expect a lot more moves to take place around the league.

The Sacramento Kings are just getting started as they begin to change the landscape of the franchise.

Thanks for the memories, Bogi.
