Bogdanovic will now be able to finalize his deal with Atlanta, ending his three-year run in Sacramento

Along with a new general manager and front office staff, the Sacramento Kings are going to look a lot different on the floor as well next month when the 2020-21 season tips off.

Sacramento has decided to not match Bogdan Bogdanovic’s four-year, $76 million offer sheet from the Atlanta Hawks, per Adrian Wojnarowski.

Bogdanovic, who the Kings acquired in a trade with the Phoenix Suns during the 2016 NBA Draft, was a solid contributor in Sacramento during the 2017-20 seasons.

The 28-year-old had his best NBA season in 2019-20, averaging 15.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists with the Sacramento Kings.

Wojnarowski stated that after rookie guard and 12th-overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft Tyrese Haliburton fell to Sacramento, that the franchise “suddenly had a deeper, more talented backcourt than they originally anticipated heading into free agency — another factor in this decision.”

Sacramento’s depth has taken a major hit this offseason, as four role players (Bogdanovic, Alex Len, Harry Giles III and Kent Bazemore) have departed for new teams.

With only one week until teams begin workouts and then training camp, general manager Monte McNair will need to get to work to ensure that the roster is ready for opening night.
