The star guard joined the show to discuss his contract extension, the upcoming season and much more
This week on The Carmichael Dave Show with JayMarzz, Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox joined the show to breakdown his new contract with the organization and share his excitement towards the 2020-21 season.
Fox, who inked a five-year, $163 million extension with Sacramento last week, enjoyed a breakout season in 2019-20. The 22-year-old averaged 21.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
The $163 million (with clauses to exceed $190 million) extension is currently the largest contract signed by a player in Sacramento Kings history.
When asked of how it feels to have that number thrown out in the public, Fox joked that the news of the extension affected him in a similar way.
“When we found out that the deal was done, I was at home and my legs got weak. I was like, ‘I gotta go lay down’,” Fox laughed. “Obviously I am very grateful. But it’s definitely crazy that it’s easy for everybody to know what you’re making.”
Dave asked De’Aaron what was most important to him in making his decision on re-upping with the Kings for the longterm. His answer was simple: bringing back winning basketball to Sacramento.
“Bringing back winning basketball. That’s the most important thing to me. More important than the contract and everything else.”
Over the span of the entire interview, Fox goes on to share his thoughts on the upcoming season, states how important it is to implement a winning culture in Sacramento, shares how he was able to track down a PlayStation 5 and much more.
