The former King joined the show to discuss the upcoming NBA season, expectations for Marvin Bagley III and more
Longtime NBA veteran and former Sacramento Kings center Olden Polynice joined The Carmichael Dave Show with JayMarzz this week to discuss the upcoming 2020-21 season.
Polynice, 56, played in Sacramento from 1994-1998. The 6’11 big averaged 10.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game during his time with the franchise.
The NBA season is just around the corner, with Sacramento opening up its preseason schedule this weekend in Portland.
Kings forward Marvin Bagley III is entering his third season as a professional and seeking a breakout year to cement himself as a staple within the franchise.
“I’ve seen Marvin Bagley play since high school and he is a talent,” Polynice said. “He technically is a generational talent, but how is he going to be health-wise? How is he going to approach the game?”
Polynice shared with the guys that he has high expectations for the former Duke Blue Devil:
“If he’s healthy, to me, he’s along the lines of Giannis. Because he can handle the ball, he can shoot–he’s a better shooter than Giannis. He has right-shoulder, left-shoulder moves, he runs the floor extremely well, he jumps really high, he really is a generational talent. He can transcend the game. He is not Luka Doncic, no. No one is. But he can be Marvin Bagley and he can be really, really good.
“If those things (health) happen, I kid you not, he’s on that level of a Giannis, guys like that. Bam Adebayo, we have seen his development. He can be as good–if not better than guys like that.”
Polynice goes into depth on why he believes that Bagley could become one of the better players in the game, shares expectations for this year’s Kings team and much more.
