Tyrese Haliburton Out For At Least Two Games With Bone Bruise In Wrist

The rookie guard will be reevaluated next week when the team returns to Sacramento

The Sacramento Kings announced on Friday night that rookie guard Tyrese Haliburton will be out until at least next week due to a bone bruise in his left wrist.

The team’s medical staff will reevaluate the 20-year-old’s injury when they return to Sacramento following Monday’s game in San Francisco.

Haliburton looked to have injured his wrist during the later stages of Thursday night’s game in Houston, showing noticeable discomfort after a dunk attempt was broken up by Rockets guard John Wall.

After laying on the floor in pain for a moment, Haliburton would shake off the pain and play out the remainder of the contests, including knocking down a big three-point shot late to keep the Kings in the game.

The move by Sacramento to hold Haliburton could be a precautionary act due to the young guard’s recent injury history.

Last season with Iowa State, Haliburton fractured the same left wrist in February, effectively ending his season and college career.

The 12th overall pick in this year’s draft has looked incredible in his limited sample size, averaging 10.6 points, 2.0 rebounds and 4.4 assist per game on 52-percent shooting from the field and a blistering 50-percent shooting from three-point range.

Haliburton has looked like an above-average playmaker as well, dishing 22 assists versus only four turnovers so far this season.

The Kings will be back in action on Saturday afternoon in Houston before heading to San Francisco for a matchup with the Golden State Warriors.

With Haliburton out, head coach Luke Walton will in all likelihood need to plug one or both of Kyle Guy or Glenn Robinson III into the rotation to pick up the slack.
