Super Bowl LV hasn’t even been played yet.

The new league year doesn’t even begin until March 17th but that hasn’t stopped the NFL from beginning what should be a crazy offseason.

Saturday night the Los Angeles Rams and the Detroit Lions worked out the framework of a deal involving former number-one pick quarterbacks changing locations.

The Detroit Lions had already announced that they were going to part ways with Matthew Stafford and they had a lot of suitors interested in his talent.

The Los Angeles Rams swept in and scooped up Stafford at a lofty price. The Detroit Lions will get a 3rd round pick in 2021, first round picks in 2022 and 2023, as well as Jared Goff.

WOW!

The Los Angeles Rams will be getting a quarterback that has thrown for over 45,000 yards which is 16th all time. Pairing Stafford with McVay could be what the Rams need to get over the hump.

The Rams have a strong defense and they clearly had lost faith in Goff. McVay opted to start John Wolford in the wild card game even though Goff said he was good to go after injuring his thumb. Goff came in after Wolford got hurt and advanced the Rams to the next round. Goff took the Rams to the Super Bowl a few years ago too but it looked like there were just ready to move on from the 26 year old signal caller.

The Lions could still draft a quarterback if they want and see if Goff can find the form that he had a couple of seasons ago. Detroit will keep building off the draft and see if they can get back to the top of the division that has been owned by the Green Bay Packers as of late.

This will not be the only move this offseason and specifically not the only one at the quarterback position.

What will happen with Big Ben? Will Carson Wentz stay in Philadelphia? Who will get the services of DeShaun Watson? If Stafford cost that much, what kind of haul will the Texans get for Watson?

This offseason should be amazing to watch. One move could trigger more moves and could be one of the best off-season’s in league history. Count me in as someone who wants the chaos and wants to see some teams make some bold moves.

This is fun.
