Oakland has filled their shortstop hole with Andrus, a two-time All-Star and longtime AL West foe

The ‘Khrush’ Davis era is over.

Just a week removed from losing former AL MVP candidate shortstop Marcus Semien to the Toronto Blue Jays, the Oakland Athletics have acquired shortstop Elvis Andrus from the Texas Rangers in exchange for slugging outfielder Khris Davis, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Andrus, 32, is a two-time American League All-Star that has racked up 1,743 hits over his 12 seasons in the major leagues. The veteran shortstop will slide into the A’s lineup sporting a lifetime .274 batting average.

The Rangers will send Andrus to Oakland as a salary dump, with the A’s having to pay $14.25 million in 2021 and 2022 before a 2023 vesting option (Andrus would need 550 plate appearances in 2022 or 1,100 PAs in 2021-22 combined to guarantee the option).

Andrus hit .275 with 12 home runs and 72 RBI during the 2019 regular season. The A’s will likely utilize the veteran’s speed this season, as Andrus stole 31 bags in 2019 and has swiped 305 over the span of his career.

Khris ‘Khrush’ Davis will depart Oakland after five seasons with the A’s, where he became a fan-favorite due to his tremendous power.

Davis hit .240 with 158 home runs and 418 RBI over his time with the green and gold after being acquired in a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers prior to the 2016 season.
