Robinson averaged 5.3 points and 2.0 rebounds per game over 23 appearances this season
The Sacramento Kings have waived forward Glenn Robinson III this week, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Robinson, 27, appeared in 23 games this season and averaged 5.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 0.2 steals per game while shooting 42-percent from the field and 36-percent from the three-point line.
Following Wojnarowski’s tweet, the Kings formally announced that they have in fact waived the veteran forward.
The Kings are waiving Robinson before February 27th, the date that his contract for the 2020-21 season becomes fully guaranteed.
Robinson, who has been absent from team activity since February 19th due to personal reasons, shared his appreciation for his time with the Kings franchise in a post on Twitter:
The departure of Robinson clears the way for DaQuan Jeffries and rookie Robert Woodard II to benefit from more playing time.
Jeffries, who returned on February 12th following missing the beginning of the season due to a sprained ankle, has looked very impressive since rejoining the team.
Over seven games, the 23-year-old is averaging 7.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while shooting 47-percent from the field and 42-percent from the three-point line.
Woodard, who is currently playing in the G-League bubble, has posted 16.2 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game over nine appearances.
