It took 20 days since the start of NBA free agency for the Sacramento Kings to make their first signing.

Yogi Ferrell, a 25-year-old, six-foot point guard, adds some scoring depth to the Kings’ point guard rotation. In three NBA seasons, Ferrell is averaging 10 points on 41% shooting with three rebounds and assists a game. The Kings will be his third NBA team, having spent time with the Brooklyn Nets and Dallas Mavericks.

“I heard the vision and optimism from Vlade and Brandon, and got a view of the culture and direction from veterans I look up to, and that was impactful,” Ferrell said in an interview with Yahoo. “I see the explosive potential from a starving young group that wants to open the floor up with more shooting and play with speed and stats. I’m excited about the opportunity to grow with this team and I can’t wait to bring my heart to Sacramento.”

After the recent trade with the Memphis Grizzlies, and the Ferrell signing, the Sacramento Kings now have roughly $17 million to work with under the salary cap for the 2018-19 season. The Kings are still reportedly in talks with stretch-forward and shooter Nemanja Bjelica.
