The trade deadline is here.

The Sacramento Kings have acquired point guard Delon Wright from the Detroit Pistons in exchange for guard Cory Joseph and two second round picks, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Wright, 28, is currently enjoying a very strong season in his sixth season, averaging 10.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 46-percent from the field and 35-percent from the three-point line.

The veteran guard has one more year remaining on his deal that will pay him $8.5 million during the 2021-22 season.

By acquiring Wright, Sacramento sends mixed signals to how they are going to conduct the rest of their trade deadline deals. The addition of the talented backup guard gives off more of a ‘buy’ vibe than the long rumored plan to be a selling team.

Wright’s $8.5 million actually adds money to next year’s payroll with Cory Joseph’s contract only having $2 million guaranteed for 2021-22.

It should be an interesting race to the trade deadline finish-line, which will take place at 12:00pm PST on Thursday.
