Spurs Snap Kings’ Five Game Winning Streak

San Antonio brought it on Wednesday, routing Sacramento with ease at AT&T Center
Coming into action on Wednesday night, the San Antonio Spurs had lost five of their previous six games.
After suffering a blowout loss to the Sacramento Kings on Monday night, the Spurs would let history repeat itself as they would put on an offensive display in a 120-106 win at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.
With the loss, Sacramento (22-26) saw its five-game winning-streak come to an end.
Only 48 hours removed removed from Monday’s blowout loss, the Spurs came out aggressive on Wednesday night.
Coupled with De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield’s 0-for-12 combined performance in the first half, San Antonio would shoot 53-percent from the field and 50-percent (nine-of-18) from three point range to take a 69-53 lead at the half.
San Antonio would not slow down in the second half, leading for the remainder of the game to pick up a much-needed win in the race for the Western Conference Play-in.
Richaun Holmes would post his 20th double-double of the season, scoring 14 points on six-of-eight shooting from the field to go along with 15 rebounds and two blocks.
Recently acquired guard Delon Wright had quite the first half, scoring 14 of his 16 points during the first two quarters of play.
Rookie guard Tyrese Haliburton added 18 points in the loss, putting on another strong offensive display on Wednesday night.
De’Aaron Fox topped the 20-point mark for the sixth-consecutive game, finishing with 20 points and four assists in an overall down game for the talented guard.
After going 0-of-8 from the field in the first half, Buddy Hield would wake up in the second half, scoring all 14 of his points in the third quarter to keep the Kings within striking distance.
Hield would finish five-of-18 from the field, including four-of-12 from three point range.
Harrison Barnes tied his career-high with 14 rebounds while dishing out five assists over 35 minutes of action.
When it comes down to it, it’s sad to see the Kings’ winning-streak snapped–but splitting a two game set, on the road in San Antonio of all places, is a win in my book.
The Kings return to face a shorthanded Los Angeles Lakers team on Friday night in a game that they need to win before facing two-time MVP Giannis Antentokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night.
With 24 games remaining in the season, Sacramento is very much alive in the race for a top-10 spot in the Western Conference.
Coming Up
Sacramento will return home to face a shorthanded Los Angeles Lakers team on Friday night.
The Kings defeated the Lakers in their only meeting this season, winning by a final of 123-120 on March 3rd at Golden 1 Center.
Los Angeles will be without the services of four-time MVP LeBron James and All-Star forward Anthony Davis, with both players sitting out due to injury.
New Lakers center Andre Drummond is expected to be active for the contest, with the 27-year-old averaging 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game while with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
