Sacramento held a $1.7 million team option on Jeffries for 2021-22

The Sacramento Kings are expected to waive guard DaQuan Jeffries, according to James Ham of NBC Sports California.

Jeffries, 23, had seen his role in the rotation disappear over the last five weeks of action.

The second-year guard averaged 3.7 points and 1.6 rebounds per game on 42-percent shooting from the field and 32-percent shooting from three-point range over 17 games.

Jeffries, who missed the first 24 games of the season due to an ankle sprain, looked strong in his return to action in February, averaging 7.5 points per game on 45-percent shooting from the field and 38-percent shooting from three-point range over six contests.

That production would dip, however, with head coach Luke Walton opting to remove the young guard from the rotation after a rough stretch of play that included a 33-percent clip from the field and 14-percent from downtown.

Sacramento held a $1.7 million team option for Jeffries in 2021-22, but it appears the team will be moving in a different direction.
