Oakland will face Colorado on Friday after taking two of three from Seattle

Oakland Athletics left-hander Sean Manaea continued his stretch of solid play on Wednesday afternoon, hurling a four-hit, eight-strikeout, complete game shutout in a 6-0 win over the Seattle Mariners.

It was Manaea’s second complete game shutout of the season and the third of his six-year career.

Over his last three starts, the 29-year-old holds a 1-0 record with 0.87 ERA, 22 strikeouts and two earned runs allowed over 20.2 innings pitched.

“I haven’t seen that in quite some time from him,” A’s manager Bob Melvin said postgame. “The breaking ball was good. The changeup was good. When he’s got all three pitches working like that, he’s tough to deal with.”

Behind a masterful performance by Manaea, the A’s offense would be paced by Mark Canha’s three RBI and a two-run shot from Mitch Moreland, who took Mariners starter Chris Flexen deep in the third inning to give Oakland a commanding 5-0 lead.

Matt Olson went three-for-four with and RBI single, while Elvis Andrus and Matt Chapman each picked up two hits in the win.

Oakland will enjoy an off-day on Thursday before facing a Colorado Rockies team that has won three-straight games. The A’s are slated to send out Frankie Montas, Cole Irvin and James Kaprielian during the weekend series.
